W/H-N boys top Canby, Ortonville, now 9-9
The Wheaton/Herman-Norcross boys basketball team evened its record at 9-9 with two wins and one loss over the last week.
The Warriors routed Canby in a non-conference game, Saturday, Feb. 1, and W/H-N also won at Ortonville last Monday night, 58-47, before losing to Lac qui Parle Valley, Thursday, 75-63.
During the loss to the Eagles, Matt Thielen broke his own record of 10 made three-pointers in a game with 11, and came within one point of the W/H-N boys’ school record with 41 points. Jerry Schultz owns the record, scoring 42 points in 1963.
W/H-N was also set to play at league-leading West Central Area, Friday (75-51 loss), and a recap of that game will appear next week. The Warriors only have five more regular-season games left on the schedule, including a game at Brandon-Evansville, Thursday (tomorrow), and a game at UM-Morris versus Brandon-Evansville, Saturday.
WCA leads the Pheasant Conference with a 6-0 record and is 17-2 overall, while Hancock is 4-3, 13-6, W/H-N is 4-4, 9-10 after the loss to WCA, Ortonville is 2-4, 5-10, and CGB is 1-6, 1-17.
