Border West clinches Pheasant Conference title

The Border West baseball team clinched the Pheasant Conference baseball title with three wins last week, including a 5-4 victory over Ortonville, Friday at Ortonville.

Earlier in the week, the Buccaneers split a doubleheader from Ashby (14-2 and 4-6) and edged West Central Area (13-10).

Border West, which is 9-2 in the Pheasant Conference and 10-3 overall, is set to close out the regular-season this week with home games Monday against Hillcrest, and Tuesday (yesterday) versus Canby (at Clinton).

The Buccaneers should also earn a top seed in their half of Section 6A and would open up the section tournament at home, Saturday. There are only seven teams in Border West’s half of the section, so the Buccaneers would earn a first-round bye before playing the winner of Ortonville and Hancock.
